On Stage

This is the schedule for the activities taking place on the stage. The stage will be situated on the bottom tier of the venue, and will feature many kinds of fun and exciting events. There will even be one or two special surprises throughout the day that aren’t listed here. If we listed them… they wouldn’t be surprises! Make a note of the following times and events and ensure that you are able to make the ones that are high on your priority list.

11:00 – 11:15 – Welcome to the Summer of Sonic 2010

The co-organisers of the Summer of Sonic convention, Svend ‘Dreadknux’ Joscelyne and Kevin ‘ArchangelUK’ Eva, take to the stage to formally welcome everyone to the day’s events and introduce the concept and meaning of the convention.

11:30 – 12:00 – The Wrecks Factor – LIVE!

Get on the microphone and belt out a classic Sonic the Hedgehog theme song in one of the community’s most popular online events. Special guests will be judging people’s karaoke attempts, and the winner will get a very special prize. The loser traditionally gets to sing the DK Rap as a forfeit – no guarantees that this part of the show has been left out, so train those vocals!

12:20 – 12:50 – Never Mind the Buzzbombers

Clash of the Sonic titans! Founder of The Sonic Stadium and Summer of Sonic, Svend ‘Dreadknux’ Joscelyne and The Sonic Stadium admin, Adam ‘T-Bird’ Tuff, compete in a challenging and entertaining quiz show covering all aspects of the Sonic franchise! Members from the audience will be invited to join the opposing teams and play for prizes!

13:20 – 13:50 – “Afternoon Tea†with Jun Senoue – Special Acoustic Performance

The musician behind many classic Sonic the Hedgehog soundtracks goes solo for an intimate performance, playing a selection of themes from games old and new. Jun Senoue’s work has spanned Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, Sonic and the Black Knight and Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 – meaning there’s a wide variety of songs that you can expect to hear played live.

14:30 – 15:00 – Crush 40: The Q&A Session

Ever wanted to learn more about the band behind Open Your Heart and Live & Learn? Adam ‘T-Bird’ Tuff sits in an open forum with guitarist Jun Senoue and singer Johnny Gioeli about their careers, side projects, Sonic the Hedgehog and other things besides. Questions from the audience will be asked, as well as a number submitted via The Sonic Stadium website.

17:00 – 17:20 – Cosplay Contest, Art Contest/ASR World Champion Results

Fancy playing dress-up? Come along to the Summer of Sonic convention in cosplay, and automatically enter yourself into the Cosplay Contest on stage at the end of the day. Nothing to submit beforehand – you’ll be easy to spot! We’ve seen some amazing costumes in the past, and this year should prove to continue that trend!

After the Cosplay Contest, Svend ‘Dreadknux’ Joscelyne and Kevin ‘ArchangelUK’ Eva will return to close the day’s events and thank everyone for their attendance. During this time, the winner of the Art Contest and the Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing World Championships will be formally recognised on stage, along with the handing of prizes.

17:45 – 18:45 – Crush 40 Performance

We’ve saved the best until last. Crush 40, the hard rock duo that is idolised by Sonic fans around the world, will take to the stage to perform their very first live performance outside of Japan! Don’t miss this rare chance to see Jun Senoue and Johnny Gioeli rock out to hordes of adoring fans! Many surprises and old favourites will be included in the setlist, promising a rollercoaster ride of Sonic themes that will be worth the wait!
