Hi again – Svend ‘Dreadknux’ Joscelyne here again, greeting you to the beginning of a convention full of wonder and fun! Seriously guys, this year is going to be awesome. I hope you’re looking forward to it.
As you might know, for those who have attended the Summer of Sonic convention in the past, I’m the creator and co-organiser behind the event. Kevin ‘ArchangelUK/AAUK’ Eva of SEGA Europe and Sonic Wrecks fame, co-heads the show. But a lot more manpower (and womanpower!) goes into making SoS the best it can be than just us two. In fact, the original 2008 convention might not have taken place at all were it not for the help of our friends, who are now core members of the SoS team.
On this page I will introduce you to the core crew – these guys will be posting every now and then on this website to give you a little insight into their side of organising this year’s event, and will also be in charge of revealing some really cool things that will be happening at the convention too.
Adam ‘T-Bird’ Tuff: Stage
Manager
T-Bird is a metalhead, just like me. And he
has long-ish hair. And wears hats. This awesome chap is in charge
of setting up the schedule and various other arrangements involving
the stage – so any quizzes, performances or other activities
will be executed by his hand with a flair and grace that would make
even the hardened Sally Acorn swoon. T-Bird will also be keeping
the DJ area in check, along with various other related
entertainment functions.
Joshua ‘Urtheart’
Cartlidge
Urtheart, being the head of our Security
department, may try to put on the meanest face while letting people
in through the doors – but don’t be intimidated,
he’s a nice and gentle bloke. He will be in charge of leading
his team to ensure that your time spent at the Summer of Sonic is a
safe and enjoyable one – keep on the lookout for some public
service announcements on here from him very soon.Â
Urtheart has a multitude of part-time roles on TSS, Radio SEGA,
Emerald Coast and Sonic Wrecks message board Entherial Online.
Ian ‘Bmn’ Bennett
Bmn is our
Tech Leader – at SOS and both SEGASonic Radio and The Sonic Stadium. If he says we
need more Chaos Emerald energy to power our ambitious stage
lighting, then you can be sure his word is law. But hopefully,
things shouldn’t come to that. His main job will be to keep
everything ticking nicely in the venue – lights, DJ decks,
live feeds, and other background technogubbins that you won’t
see. If you don’t see him around, he’ll likely be
tinkering our R.O.C.C. (Let’s hope he doesn’t Kick
The R.O.C.C – AAUK)
Alex ‘Flyboy Fox’ Perea
SSMB
admin Flyboy Fox looks after the Comics and Cartoons area of the
convention. She’s the one you need to thank for setting up
all of those comics for you to read every year. This year we will
have some pretty grand plans for those who want to hang around the
Comics area, so stay tuned for some future announcements.
Dale ‘Shadzter’ Gennard
TSS
article writer and SSMB admin Shadzter’s our resident Sonic
gaming guru, looking after people who will be eager to play various
games from the blue blur’s past and present. If you’re
ever stuck in a Sonic game, look to him for advice – yes,
it’s true, he even knows how to get past that barrel in Sonic
the Hedgehog 3. Look to him in the Games area in your time of
need.
Phil ‘Vger’ Sims
The head of
Emerald
Coast and an SSR DJ, Vger helps out at the doors,
and is on hand to make sure that everyone has a great time at the
convention. He’s never far from his miniature two-tailed
friend, Tails. Well, a plushie Tails. But it’s a plushie
Tails that travels the world, so who are we to jest? One of
Vger’s jobs will be to make sure you get into the venue
safely and easily – provided you have your tickets at the
ready, of course!
Rory ‘Roareye’ Joscelyne / Jay (aka
‘Discoponies’)
You might know Roareye
from the Sonic Showcase Network and the SEGASonic Radio LiVECAST show,
The Sonic Hour. And Discoponies is none other than the man behind
The Sonic Show. Between
these two forces of ultimate awesome, they will present the Summer
of Sonic to you, dear Internet user, via the power of live video.
Even if you can’t make it, this convention helps you keep
track of the action. How great is that?
Lewis ‘Hairyman’ Clark
Legend
has it that SEGA
Driven’s Hairyman is best friends with Sonic the
Hedgehog, and knows his exact whereabouts. As a result, we have put
our trust in him to escort the legendary blue blur from South
Island to London town. But isn’t it strange that you never
see the two together in the same place? Yeah, you guessed correctly
– Hairyman is seriously bad at timekeeping!
Don’t forget that there are even more people that help make the Summer of Sonic an awesome day out beyond this core team – be sure to thank the volunteers and other venue staff that will be helping us out on the day! Without everyone’s input… well, nothing would really happen, would it?
*Stares at awe ar T-birds t-shirt*

Man, I REALLY wanna’ be at one of these things. The only time I’ve been to the UK is when our plane to Asia was delayed, butI loved it!
Thank you for the hard work you all put in to make the Summer of Sonic an awesome experience without which, none of this would be possible.
R.O.C.C. thats old school, I’ve not heard that for a few years :).
Ahahaha I love that picture. Are you guys hyped? I’m hyped! Eee, I can’t wait! Please do stop by my Comics/Cartoons table for a chat this year, guys. I really enjoyed meeting people last year (and the year before).
Thank you to all of you for all the hard work you put in every year. The Summer of Sonic is such a fantastic event and I am so proud to attend it each year.
I need to prepare a new shirt for this year! But how will I top that last one!? (And how will I top T-Bird!?!?)
Lookin’ gansta, by the way.
