It seems Dr. Eggman has found out about Summer of Sonic 2010 and has dispatched some badniks to try and stop it, fortunately they were all incompetent and got stuck in the London Underground. It seems however this has caused some damage and some parts of the London Underground system will be down for engineering works the weekend of Summer of Sonic (7-8th of August).
So how does this affect you lot?
Well if you were planning to take the Hammersmith and City line (pink line), I’d strongly suggest finding another route as according to the latest updates from TFL (Transport for London):
Hammersmith & City (Pink): NO SERVICE ON THIS LINE. Replacement Bus service: Hammersmith and Paddington, calling at Goldhawk Road, Shepherds Bush (Central), Latimer Road, Ladbroke Grove, Westbourne Park and Royal Oak.
Fortunately the circle line (yellow) which runs along the same route, at least from Hammersmith and Kings Cross is operating normally.
Also experiencing closures are:
Jubilee Line (Grey/Silver): no service between
Stanmore and West Hampstead. Rail replacement buses operate.
Metropolitan Line (Purple): Saturday 7 August, no
service between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Aldgate. Rail replacement
buses operate.
Northern Line (Black): Saturday 7 and Sunday 8
August, no service between Morden and Kennington. A rail
replacement bus service operates between Clapham Common and
Morden.
Waterloo & City Line (Aqua): Completely
closed.
Stations Closed:
King’s Cross St. Pancras: Closed to Northern
Line (Black) trains.
Latimer Road (Hammersmith & City Line): Closed
westbound from Saturday 3 July until Saturday 4 December,
inclusive. London Underground tickets are valid on any reasonable
local London Bus route between Ladbroke Grove, Latimer Road, Wood
Lane and Shepherd’s Bush Green.
Blackfriars; Circle (Yellow) and District (Green):
Closed until late 2011. Please use Temple and Mansion House
stations. Tickets are also accepted on bus 388 between Mansion
House and Embankment.
Cannon Street; Circle (Yellow) and District
(Green): Closed on Saturdays and Sundays until mid 2012.
Please use nearby Bank, Mansion House or Monument stations.
If you think any of these closures may affect you, I suggest you plan ahead before travelling by checking the Transport for London website for updates the day before, and leave extra time for getting to Summer of Sonic in case of disruptions.
For more information on how to get there please read the How to get there guide, and Sonic fan, SyamingLi has also put together a very comprehensive guide on travel to the event, well worth a read.
Man public transport sucks but at least i’ve only got to take buses to get there
Gah!! This totally messes up my travel plans! Oh well, I’ll still be able to get there at least.
That won’t stop me attending, nothing will! Bwa ha ha ha ha!
Eggman’s badniks won’t stop me. A few Sonic spin attacks and I will be there.
can someone please tell me what time the event is set to open and close as this might change the time ill have to get train there and back thanks
@TheBlueHedgehog
According to the Facebook event made by the Summer of Sonic peeps, it’s from 10:30am to 8:00pm.
thanks
marcus:svend himself said the time has not been determined yet so i highly doubt it will be that long
This is unrelated to the specific post but I couldn’t find the information anywhere.
Has the end time been decided upon yet? (Even if it’s just an estimated end time). I realise I can leave whenever I want to but I missed some good stuff last year when I left early because I wasn’t sure on the train times. I want to be sure this year so that I can get the most enjoyment.
I apologise for my previous post, you may ignore (or delete, if you can) it. I had forgotten to read the comments of this post along with all the others.
Like i said before the times are yet to be determined so you will have to wait & see but if i had to perdict one maybe 10:30 till 6pm but don’t quote me on this
The Borzai:Damn you……………
oh man now what , does anyone know a good route that me and my family that we can take to get to the pavillion i would really appericate it
@Hood: That could be a more applicable time, and will be perfect for my travel plans when it comes to coming back from London.
Damn this kinda messes the plans up…..
Waterloo, where I get off the train seems like a total shambles now. I’ll just have to look at other routes or, if that fails just ask the information desk at the station about bus routes.
Or see if I can walk it……
Actually I’ve found a walking route from Waterloo that only takes about 20 mins!
Result.
Or driving route, better check in detail….
Yep, driving 21 mins, walking 2hrs 43 mins.
It’s bus time
has anybody answered my question yet
@zoe
It might help if we knew where you’ll be on the day. So we know where you’re starting from.
well when i go to london i always go by train in hatfield which is just an hour away
Hmmm…I think it won’t be much of a problem getting to SoS even though i won’t take the underground way, probably a bus or a taxi.
So what route should i take once i’m in London
If you’re coming by rail into London, once you’re in London the only thing you really need to do is take a tube to a Central (red) Line station, and change for a westbound train to Shepherd’s Bush. From Waterloon, take a Bakerloo (brown) Line train to Oxford Circus; from Kings Cross, take the Victoria Line (light blue) to Oxford Circus, or the Piccadilly Line (dark blue) to Holborn. The Piccadilly Line can also get you to Hammersmith, if that’s easier in some way.
The London Overground goes from Clapham Junction to Shepherd’s Bush, and the Overground station at the latter is in the same location as the Underground. If you’re on a Victoria train with Clapham Junction as a stop along the way, this can be a SERIOUS time saver as you basically avoid central London.
As for buses, from Waterloo take a 211 to Hammersmith, and you can take a 148 from Victoria (along the 211 route) or a 295 from Hammersmith to Shepherd’s Bush. From King’s Cross, take a 390 to Queensway, then a 94 or 148 to Shepherd’s Bush.
From Paddington, grab a Bakerloo Line train to Oxford Circus, then a Central Line to Shepherd’s Bush; or a 27 bus to Hammersmith then a 295 to Shepherd’s Bush.
I don’t think I’ve written “Shepherd’s Bush” so much in a post in my life.
@ Alex: Thanks i will try this route
is it ok to cum with a taxi
i got a route planned for today
